SKI AND SNOWBOARD RACING 2018-2019 Season
Racing for all age groups and all ability levels
The 2018-2019 race season has begun! The first race for the season was a hit with 5 new racers participating and 4 qualifying! In the lead with a perfect score of 40 points each day was Amanda Woodstock! Amanda has been one of KSOC's highest point earners for 4 years and we are excited to have her back! Our team finished with a total of 17 points out of 20 possible for the weekend! Congratulations Team!!!
Knoxville is poised for a great season with such a strong start! We encourage anyone else wanting to join to do so this week. Remember if you want to race at the Crescent Cup you must race once before the end of February! If you would like to qualify for Nationals then you must do so by racing a National Qualifying run before Feb 15th!
We welcome skiers of all ages and abilities to come take part is our race clinics and race events! We have 6 regular season races every year before Nationals. Come join the KSOC race team and help us grow! We would especially invite young racers and families who have not been involved previously and of course all of our previous racers. Please spread the word as our team greatly depends on you and our other club members’ referrals.
We have new leadership this year. Matt Fulcher will continue as the Race Director. Chad Miller has accepted the position of Co-Race Director to replace Jeannine Dunn who is now focusing on Ski Patrol training. Chad has a long history in the sport of Downhill ski racing. Chad’s father, Robert Jensen, raced for the USSA Olympic team in the 70’s. Chad has also raced for his high-school race team, The University of Tennessee from 2000-2004, and was also the former UT Alpine Ski Race Director. We can certainly look forward to a year of strong leadership and opportunity this race season! If you would like to get involved with the race team, we would love to have you. Knoxville Ski and Snowboard Alpine Race Team races in the Crescent Ski Council Racing Program at Appalachian, Sugar, Beech and Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
