Knoxville Ski and Outing Club Distance Ski Trips for 2019-2020

Trip Sign-up Began at 12:01 a.m. EDT June 1, 2019

Trip registration is going extremely well.  So well, that there are not very many spaces remaining on the trips. Copper has 8 spaces and Mammoth 7 spaces remaining.  Snowmass is now taking a Waiting List.  Sun Peaks has 46 lodging/ground transfer spaces left.  KSOC still has 6 group air spaces remaining but once those are sold, we can request additional seats.

There are six trips to choose from this year.  Three of the trips are KSOC planned trips and three are Crescent Ski Council Trips (CSC).  Copper Mountain, Mammoth Mountain and Snowmass Resort are planned by KSOC.  While Steamboat Ski/Race Camp, Sun Peaks and Granada-Sierra Nevada, Spain are CSC trips that we are promoting as part of our ski trip selection for 2019-2020.  Steamboat, Copper, Mammoth and Snowmass are all on the IKON Pass.  You have until August 1, 2019 to purchase your pass from Sports America Tours at a $100 discount plus receive $30 or $50 off a club trip depending upon which pass is purchased.  See information below.

Sign-up for Steamboat, Sun Peaks, Copper, Mammoth and Snowmass is done on-line via the Sports America Tours link provided with each article.  The price for Steamboat is now $1280 as all “early bird” spaces have been sold.

Granada and Sierra Nevada, Spain.  Plus extensions to Lisbon, Portugal and Barcelona, Spain.  This trip is now open for registration.  The registration form and complete trip information is on this website.  Registration is to be done by filling out the registration form and emailing it or mailing it along with your deposit check to Elaine Denney.  Information is listed below under the Granada/Sierra Nevada trip information.

Checks are to be made out to Holidaze Tours.  Elaine Denney will then forward these items on to Holidaze.

We are not collecting club membership fees on-line at Sports America Tours.    You will need to pay your dues directly to KSOC.  Remember that you must be a member to sign up for a KSOC or CSC trip AND be a current member at the time of the trip.  To maintain your membership, you must pay your renewal dues by August 1, 2019.  Don’t lose your place on a trip by failing to pay your dues on time.Reciprocal Membership fees will be paid through Sports America Tours.

Trips are listed beginning with the December Steamboat Ski/Race Camp and ending with the Granada/Sierra Nevada, Spain trip.

Don’t miss out on the 36th Race Camp!!!  Come celebrate our 50th year. It is sure to be a terrific trip.  Steamboat Ski/Race Camp is a week filled with activities.  The price includes 5 full days of lessons, 6-day lift pass, 7 nights lodging, 3 on-mountain lunches, a BBQ dinner/dance and Awards Banquet with door prizes.  This is an outstanding value that offers the opportunity to learn to ski or improve your skiing skills. If you want to learn to ski or improve your technique this is a “not to be missed opportunity.”  This year, the ski week is essentially one week later than it has been the last 2-3 years, giving “Old Man Winter” time to drop more snow on the mountain. Trip price does not include airfare.

Travel to Granada and Sierra Nevada, Spain

Extensions to Lisbon, Portugal and Barcelona, Spain

    Basic Tour March 17-25, 2020

$1141.00 Double Occupancy $1526 Single Occupancy

Pre-trip to Lisbon is now FULL

    Hello everyone,

Granada, Sierra Nevada, and Torremolinos Spain with extensions to Barcelona and Lisbon, Portugal what a line-up for a trip!  We have a wonderful, exciting adventure awaiting us in March of 2020!

Just an update to let you know we have 23 people signed up for the CSC trip so far.  Many are going to Lisbon for the pre-trip and are also going on to Barcelona for the post trip.  We have a great group going!  If anyone is interested, let me know so I can get the paperwork started.  It is important to work quickly because this includes all CSC clubs.  Nineteen other clubs are also registering with a combined 100 space limit.  At this time there is no availability for the Lisbon Extension but Granada and Barcelona are still available. Don't wait too long or you will miss out on this trip.

Double Occupancy pricing is as follows:

    • Basic trip to Granada/Sierra Nevada - March 17-25, 2020   $1141
    • Pre-trip extension to Lisbon – March 14-18, 2020 additional $640 - full
    • Post – trip extension to Barcelona – March 25-28, 2020 additional $752

These prices do not include airfare or travel insurance that will cover trip cancellation.  We have requested group air from Knoxville and estimate a price in the range of $1100 - $1300.  The cost of Travel insurance from Travel Protectors depends upon the trip options selected.  Purchasing travel insurance can be a big benefit.  Many club members have been glad that they had travel insurance when unforeseen events occurred right before some of our trips.  Compared to the price of the trip it is a small amount.

Registration for the trip is as follows:

    1. Attached you will find the form that must be submitted with your deposit.  Please send the completed form, copy of your passport personal information page with 1st deposit  ($600.00 basic trip, additional $150.00 for each extension) to:

      Elaine Denney
      P.O. Box 30312
      Knoxville, TN 37930

    2. There are a limited number of spaces for all of the Crescent Ski Council clubs.  You are not guaranteed a space until your form, passport page, and 1st deposit is received by Holidaze.  Elaine will be responsible for getting this information to Holidaze.  Therefore, it is important to respond quickly.

    3. Your passport must be valid for 6 months beyond the end of the trip.

    4. Please pay attention to the second page of the registration form as it has very important information about travel insurance and if you choose to book your own air.

    5. KSOC dues must be current.

    6. Single rooms are on request only and cannot be guaranteed.

Any questions or concerns please contact me.  I will be at the Happy Hour at Lakeside Tavern on Friday, July 12, 2020 with registration forms for anyone wanting to sign up at that time.  Bring your checkbook!!

Please contact me with questions about trip price, airfare, travel insurance.  (Elaine Denney:  865-919-2307
