In case you haven’t noticed, we are in the midst of Summer! Many of us live in locations that are experiencing record high temperatures – but not as bad as parts of Europe and in France during the Tour de France! Meanwhile, our clubs are finding/planning fun summer things to do. Your newsletters and social media postings show our members attending baseball games, going to/hiking in the mountains, camping, enjoying a variety of water activities – just to name a few. It’s great seeing you enjoying club activities beyond the ski season.
Meanwhile, it’s time to start thinking of skiing with Crescent Ski Council. Sign-ups started June 1st for all three (3) of Crescent’s trips to Steamboat, Sun Peaks and Spain. These trips are selling very well, so if you haven’t yet signed up, you should do so soon. Several Clubs also have some great trips planned for the coming season. Be sure to check them out on the website.
Also – don’t be left out from attending the Fall Conference. Be sure to download the attached documents for Fall Conference (Fall Conference Registration Form and Fall Conference Information and Schedule), and send them to Mary Anne. These documents are also posted on the CSC website. Sandy McQuain is emailing the Spring meeting minutes, the Executive Committee (ExComm) called (GoToMeeting) meeting minutes, and the FY2020 proposed budget. Please email Mary Anne with your thoughts, questions, and ideas of ways Crescent can increase our income as well as decrease spending.
CRESCENT TRIPS (Lisa Beregi)
Crescent trips are selling well! At this time Steamboat is at 200 participants and getting sign ups everyday! Deadline to register is November 1st, but it is never too early to register online.
Sun Peaks had a scare last week when our allocation was almost sold out. Sara is working on getting more space - but online registration may say "waitlist" when you register. Please let your members know that if they plan to go, they need to sign up now! Air into Vancouver has been quite reasonable and this should be a new and quaint experience.
Spain - also selling very well. As of last week Holidaze had approximately 75 people. Deposit for this trip is due August 30th, so make sure you get you members signed up at your August meetings.
The 2021 Ski Week will be to Telluride!

Once again we are in beautiful Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains for our 2019 Fall Conference. The Knoxville Ski & Outing Club (KSOC) is your host club and is inviting all the CSC clubs to bring a lot of people so we can have an awesome Fall event. Remember that Glenstone Lodge would like everyone to book ONLINE! Please copy and paste the link provided in the Info & Schedule document into your web browser. It will automatically open under our group code for the proper dates. If you would like to book outside those dates, the rates are good for a few days before and after. Then make SURE you complete the Registration form (listing ALL attendee names and payments for your club) and send it to Mary Anne Koltowich as we will need a close head count for lunch and for the Trade Show Reception. The Friday Golf outing is scheduled! The details for both the golf outing and the hike are being organized and will be shared soon.
Make sure your club sends a representative to attend the Trips, Racing, and Administration meetings. Many clubs make this a club event/trip and bring along club members who love the outdoors and/or shopping/touring Gatlinburg.
The Fall Conference Information Schedule Form and the Registration Form are attached as well as posted on the CSC website.

RACING (Rich Mead)
Unless you’re attending a summer training camp, your skis are stashed in a closet awaiting some colder weather. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t opportunities to recruit new racers. Many hikers, cyclists and other summer athletes are looking for a winter sport to enjoy the outdoors versus hours in the gym. Crescent Racing is for skiers and snowboarders of nearly all abilities, so don’t be shy about talking about our race program and recruiting new racers. People new to the area are often surprised to learn how much skiing is available. I recently received an email from a woman asking about our race program after she met Gary Woolfolk at a Nashville club meeting. Way to go Gary!

CRESCENT 50TH ANNIVERSARY, 2019
Crescent Ski Council was initially formed in February 1969 and we will be continuing to celebrate Crescent’s Golden Anniversary at the Fall Conference in October and on the Steamboat Ski, Ride & Race Camp in December. These will be on a smaller scale than at the Spring Convention.
The BIG celebration was at Spring Convention, and what a party it was!! As we promised, the history documents that were on display in the Golden Notebook on the Crescent history table have been posted to Crescent’s website. Pictures from the party are posted on the Conventions section of Crescent’s website. We had everything from formal attire to some fun costumes and the Clubs did a great job of displaying their history. Check them out when you have a chance - https://www.crescentskicouncil.org/conventions.html. Please share with your Club members.
Happy 50th Anniversary to Crescent Ski Council!!
